The first of a three series of African animal designs, this design depicts an African male elephant, tusks curve elegantly, adding to its regal presence, while its trunk reaches out in a gesture of curiosity or perhaps contemplation. The elephant's form dominates the deck, capturing its immense strength and grace. Its wrinkled skin texture is intricately rendered, giving the impression of a weathered yet wise creature. The design was executed using 3 carefully cut out stencils, overlayed and spray painted over a three day period.
